As a wedding photographer, I have photographed many venues all over Kent, Surrey, Essex and London and every now and again I visit one that gives me that warm feeling of excitement. So I want to share with you one of these venues and some of the amazing photos we took there.
Westenhanger Castle is a unique, romantic wedding venue set in fourteen acres of the beautiful Kentish countryside. What makes it so special is the exclusivity, the castle grounds, manor house and the marquee, all yours for the day. It is a secluded and intimate venue with lots of rustic charm combined with the elegance and luxury of the exquisite marquee.
Personally, I love venues like this, its got character and charm and so much scope for photos. When I am photographing a wedding, I want to give my clients variety and take photos unique to their wedding day, not standard photos that everyone has already seen.
Thats why Westenhanger Castle excites me, It has quirky little door ways beautifully framed in Ivy, castle walls with arch ways and steps, beautiful greenery, and thats just the outside.
The Castle has a wonderful history with Henry VIII and Queen Elizabeth I having once lived at the Castle. Some of my favourite photos were taken inside of the manor, the bridal suite is light and airy, perfect for getting ready shots. My favourite room was the Queen Elizabeth I room, it has elegant windows which I used to create the perfect silhouette of my bride and groom, making for a stunning shot.
I also love detail shots, having been a bride myself, I know the effort that goes into choosing the perfect dress, shoes and flowers. One of my favourite photos is the back of the bride gazing out the window, the light really picks up the sparkle and lace capturing the true beauty and shape of the dress.
I will leave you to enjoy a selection of photos from our photoshoot at Westenhanger Castle and please visit their website if you are looking for the perfect wedding venue www.westenhangercastle.co.uk
